The Hunter

The Midsummer forest was cold and dark,

The snow covered the mountains and hills,

It froze the lakes, the ducks swam in,

And froze his hand stiff,

 

He waited among the bushes,

Silently peeping his head,

To see through the darkness,

That avalanched the whole forest,

 

Time went by slowly,

As the dark and cold grew deeper,

But something else was alive,

Beside the loneliness of the night,

 

He spotted a deer,

Just a few yards away,

Its nose and eyes twinkling,

As it nibbled away the patch,

 

The hidden hunter stretched his bow,

Further and further,

To strike the element of surprise,

 

But something awoke his eyes,

Beside him and the deer,

Something caught his eye,

A nose, two sparkling eyes,

Gazing at the deer,

 

There was a crash and a rubble,

Something aloud streaked ahead,

When a body fell on the snow,

Covered it with red,

 

The hunter stood up from the bushes,

As he walked towards the body,

The fur and its skin would be a valuable prize,

That would satisfy his hunger,

 

A wolf was his prize that night,

Beside the cold snow ,

While the deer just glared,

For a minute or two

 

When suddenly it sprang and ran off in to the deep,

While the man just turned,

A heavy load on his back,

Home, with a smile of thanks to a friend,

He had saved...
